Aloha! My name is Zander Carver. I am originally from Vermont! I have been working as a Massage Therapist for the past four years. I have been an athlete my whole life, from cross-country running, soccer, tennis, lacrosse, Nordic skiing, track and field, rock climbing, and parkour. These sports educated me on how the body functions in movement and how to increase ones performance in life.

When I was twenty two, I traveled here to work on farms all up and down the Hamakua coast. It was such a beautiful experience! Because of that, I went back to the main land for massage school, knowing I would move back here and establish my massage practice in Hilo.

I went to school at the Body Therapy institute in North Carolina. http://bti.edu/ During the course, I had a total hands on time of 660 hours in the classroom with more outside. I focused on Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial, structural integration, sports massage, prenatal massage and neuromuscular release. I also focused on hot stones and ice massage during spa work.

I passed the National Certification for therapeutic massage and bodywork in NC. I am also a certified licensed massage therapist in HI.

My education has prepared me extensively on how to understand what is happening, and how dysfunction arises in each individuals client's lives and body. Through this understanding I am able to help them to the best of my ability, as well as give them tools to help themselves.

I love Hilo and I want to give this community high quality therapeutic massage. In our daily lives we deal with many things that are not ergonomic and can hurt the body! Long periods of sitting and using technology, and even some sports can put a lot of pressure on many different parts of the body. My practice is first in understanding and listening, then in helping one function better In their daily lives!

In my free time I am an avid rock climber, mostly free water soloing! I also started parkour classes two years ago. I love hiking, dancing and laying on the beach! These hobbies help me to understand the body and how it functions in movement, as well as keeping my body happy and strong!
